This class was last presented in Calgary during September 2012. The class evaluations were all very positive with many comments such as "Great workshop - Thank you", "Excellent - very good information". Our Parrots, for all their boldness and energy, are by instinct, prey animals. This naturally fearful nature, which helps keep them alive in the wild, can reduce our little bundle of feathered fun into a quivering, screaming, flapping ball of stress on the bottom of the cage over the smallest thing. Or, as is all to ofter the case, a devoted Parrot lover is faced with the question of adopting another Parrot, whether that be from a previous owner who for various reasons can no longer keep their pet, or a shelter or rescue that has an animal with a history that pulls at our heartstrings. Whatever their stories, adult Parrots come to us with established behaviour patterns, and a natural fear of new situations and surroundings. This lecture will focus on how to teach these birds to trust through positive reinforcement, and to develop the skills essential to maintain physical and emotional well being. Whether your bird is simply afraid of bathing, or new toys, or so terrified, you cannot even approach the cage, this lecture will help you make sure that your home is the last and best home your Parrot ever knows.
