This is the most popular class and sells out fast so be sure to register early. This class was a near sell out in Calgary during September 2011. Feedback from some that attended was "Very impressed with the class!" and "was a very good and informative session". Parrots can be a joy and a blessing to our lives, but nothing can be more damaging to the relationship we have with them, than a serious bite. For some of us, it may come from the cute, cuddly little bundle of feathers that we brought home from the store as a baby, and has been a trusted companion for years. For others, it can come from the adopted or rescued bird we have vowed to give a permanent home to after they have been bounced from owner to owner. In all cases, we approach our birds with the best of intentions, and cannot help but feel hurt and betrayed when they turn on us. The good news is that, for all the myriad reasons aggression occurs, it is actually the easiest behaviour problem to modify. This discussion based lecture will examine causes of aggression, compare wild and captive parrot behaviour, and present strategies for teaching good behaviour. All ideas presented are based on building a trust and respect based relationship with the Parrot, with a strong focus on understanding parrot body language. These essential skills will help turn any relationship that is in trouble, into one that can flourish for a lifetime.
