These fluorescent fixtures are equipped with an electronic ballast for anyone wishing to convert from the old magnetic fixtures.  Although this fixture is not the most attractive, it provides the best and most economical source of full spectrum lighting, especially for medium and large Parrots.  Lamps should be replaced after 1/3 their expected lifespan as their beneficial UV irrediation depleats at a ratio of 3:1 of the lumens.  However, they can be used as a normal light source in other fixtures until they burn out.  The fixture can hang on the wall behind a cage by adding a lamp wire and plug for a small service fee.  These are also available in a 4 foot fixture.
